4 October 2026AFTER YOUR RUN After STOP, a finish screen of its own shows your distance, time and pace, a small map of your route and – when it fits – a seal such as "Personal best". Four steps show where your run stands: planned, run, feedback, result. Your answer to "How hard was it?" now sends itself. Your coach waits up to two hours for it.
APPLE WATCH
PHOTOS AND VIDEOS During a run you film with the ultra wide camera (0.5×) and can show your pace and distance in the video – also in the copy saved to your photo library. Anything that could not be sent during the run waits in the run's "Erinnerung" tab with "Send again".
ALSO At the largest text sizes, no value breaks in the middle of a word any more. With "Start & Ziel verbergen" (hide start and finish) on, a THANKS sent from your watch near the start no longer shows a point on the map.
September 2026
No signal? You can still plan a workout or race, and your run carries on: route, splits and zones arrive in full once you're back online, and your page goes live and closes at the finish reliably – even if you swipe the app away right after STOP. Photos, videos and voice notes are saved on your iPhone first and upload as soon as you have signal – photos and voice notes never wait behind a large video. Videos you film during a run are smaller and give your live page priority.
Uploads are several times faster: a 30-second video is now about 12 instead of 40 MB, new videos play in every browser, and portrait thumbnails are no longer squashed.
Open the app between 30 minutes before and 90 minutes after the gun, and your watch shows "Start race" with your race's name; "Start run" below it is for a warm-up your spectators don't see. A run you end on the watch now stays ended.
Share your run podcast as a link that plays in any browser, and revoke it whenever you like. The home screen lists upcoming races you can sign up for, the weekly load card says plainly whether you are above or below your usual load, and a race keeps its local start time even when you plan it from another time zone. Your mail settings no longer jump back after a change on another device.
Picking a race takes the real start time again, for example 09:15 in Berlin instead of always 09:00. Races that have a course no longer say "No course", and the distance reads "Marathon" or "Half marathon" again.
Change your visibility mid-run and your page reflects it right away, not only from your next run.
With a watch, the app saves your run more sparingly, every 5 seconds, and no longer counts a watch packet twice. Below your run podcast you now see just your answers.
New: "Followers only". Your page is then visible only to people you have approved, and you can switch it even mid-run. Visibility lives in one place, your heart rate is reserved for your followers, and new races start with your setting instead of public.
Planning and getting ready are quicker: one form for every workout, a prepare room on a single page with "Start run" at the bottom. After "Yes", iOS only asks for your location.
During a run, PAUSE, RESUME and STOP always sit at the bottom, and the splits show the last three kilometres. Start and stop videos with a volume button or Camera Control – or with the Action button once you assign it "Start/stop recording". With a chest strap, your watch shows its heart rate too, and current pace stays visible – with or without the watch.
After the run, your route comes first. The coach only says what your data supports: minutes easy, moderate and hard.
AlsoThe app starts faster, VoiceOver reads every value during a run, and German is used throughout, on the watch and lock screen too. Tidied up: "Athlete Hub", "Exercises" and "Training plans" have been removed.
Fixed: heart rate zones show five colours again, as on the watch, photos and videos from your library are no longer lost, your profile no longer jumps back, and a finished run no longer shows as live – even without signal at the finish.
Your plan video, upright again The camera preview and the recording in "What's the plan" came out rotated on some iPhones. The app now takes the correct angle for each camera from the system.
Update reminder on the home screen When a newer version is in the App Store, the home screen shows a card with "Load". Analytics without Google
Under the hood: Updated Firebase and image libraries with crash and stability fixes.
"Anderes Foto", "Mit Foto", "Mediathek" and "Anderer Lauf" opened and closed at once whenever the editor came from the inbox, the Quick Check, the home screen or a notification. The chooser now lives inside the editor and stays open.
Under 500 m Rivea no longer asks for your effort and coach feedback. The coach skips runs that short anyway.
"Video aufnehmen / Aus Mediathek wählen" and the other system dialogs are dark during a run, matching the rest of the screen.
The prepare screen is now cut by the moment you need it: Setup for the rules, Prepare for the hours and days before the run, Start for the last ten minutes. Recording and heart-rate source sit right next to the start button.
A sentence or two about today's run, shown on your page under the card and read by your coach after the run. Speak it, type it, or record a short video with the front camera – the spoken words land in the text field for you to check before you save. One plan video per run; your page shows it as the newest moment.
Start the run on your Apple Watch with the iPhone in your pocket, and the Lock Screen shows the run from the first time you unlock the phone.
AlsoCleaner wording on the prepare screen, a link to your own page, and after a training run your page returns to the parked race with its countdown.
The Run tab now holds both at once: a race from the calendar and a training run for today or tomorrow. They sit as two cards, the nearer one on top. A training run takes three taps, distance included.
Setting up a race day opens a searchable list – by name or city, sorted into Recent, This week, This month and Later. Picking one fills in name, date, start time and the real race distance.
After a race, enter your official time from the results list. It becomes the run's main time and counts towards your personal best, while the watch time stays alongside it.
AlsoLink a run to a series edition, show yourself on the shared race map on race day, races are scored as races by your coach, and your channel now shows followers.
Behind the scenesCoach feedback fails less often, and a weak GPS start no longer draws a stray line across your route map.
Tap how hard it felt, and your coach pulls one more question from your data within seconds – the card waits briefly for it instead of closing too early. A line tells you how long your coach still waits for your answer. And swiping the card away now counts as an answer instead of losing it.
If the analysis fails, or the run was too short to analyse, the app tells you – instead of "your coach is analysing" forever. Your effort still counts towards your training load.
When "one more photo, while you are still there" arrives, you can now shoot it without leaving the editor.
AlsoRuns whose server statistics are not ready yet still get coach feedback.
A new Follower Center in your profile: confirm or decline requests, see who follows you, invite people with your link, and check what followers can see. Requests open again from your inbox, too.
A switch on each run hides the first and last 200 meters of your route from everyone else – live on your page and afterwards in your history. Set it before the start or flip it later on the run. It replaces the privacy zones on the map.
Pick a photo you just took for your clip right after the run, even while it is still uploading. The avatar style now always uses the photo you chose. And in photo mode you can zoom and move the picture.
AlsoYour run type (Easy, Long run, Tempo, Intervals) is finally saved the way you set it, and there is a newsletter opt-in in your profile – off by default.
August 2026
Tap the "Last run" card on your training home and the run opens – full detail, media and coach insights included.
"What's new" now really is new: it only appears when there is something fresh for your version, swiping it away counts as read, and its entries come straight from each release.
The cut-out avatar now fills the card by default instead of sitting in a corner – sized to your photo automatically. Move it anywhere, and set its size with the buttons or two fingers. Position and size are remembered per run.
The training load card now shows how varied your week was as a band – varied, usual, flat – instead of a bare number. The separate strain tile is gone: it was just weekly load times monotony, two numbers already on the card.
Dragging your photo into place no longer jumps to a different photo. And a run you set to "only me" now disappears from your public archive and link previews too, not just from its own page.
Setup holds everything you configure – visibility, challenge, time window, tracking, heart rate. Start holds what you share with your followers, plus the start button.
Goal distance on a slider, start on a date and time wheel. Nothing on this screen is typed any more.
The route your iPhone records during watch runs is attached to the workout again. In three situations it used to be dropped without a word.
AlsoKm laps in Apple Fitness are now marked as beta.
This update makes run tracking a lot more resilient:
Your rating from the post-run check-in is now written to the workout as Effort and shows up in the Fitness app right on the run. It still arrives even when a watch-recorded workout takes minutes to reach your iPhone. Skip the check-in and the field stays empty.
Runs now show a lap table with distance, time and pace for every kilometre. Pauses are handled properly: stop at a traffic light and the kilometre is split right there, instead of one meaningless 17-minute kilometre. Brief stops under 20 seconds stay part of the running stretch.
Runs recorded on the Watch were missing their map in the Fitness app. The route is now attached reliably. Older runs cannot be repaired after the fact – their GPS points remain fully intact inside Rivea.
Stray GPS fixes that shoot off the route and snap back are now filtered out. This was never just a cosmetic problem: the recorded distance was affected too, and is now more accurate.
Races were missing the check-in on the finish screen. Now every run gets one.
If watchOS suspended the app mid-run, every kilometre mark set until then was lost. That no longer happens.
Also fixedThe German wording of the Health permission prompts.
A new name, a new look and a reworked Apple Watch interface.
